Project Contributions (Research Project)
1) Served as the team scribe, taking minutes during every
meeting, documenting progress, and providing structure to our discussions.
Ensured the team stayed on track by recording key points for re-evaluation and
validating the feasibility of brainstormed solutions.
2) Proposed the idea of enhancing motor vehicle safety
through advanced torque vectoring capabilities. This idea was developed through
a combination of online research using Google and reviewing technical articles
on automotive stability systems.
3) Suggested improvements for semi-truck braking systems to
address overheating and failure on long downhill slopes. This was informed by
researching articles and case studies on heavy vehicle braking performance,
material science, and safety standards, primarily through Google.
4) Conducted research on the dangers faced by mountain
bikers in Singapore and globally. Utilized Google searches, relevant news
articles, and YouTube videos to gather insights on safety challenges specific
to urban and trail cycling.
5) Investigated common injuries sustained during mountain
biking, finding a PDF referencing a landmark medical study that is the “largest
medical study ever to be undertaken in mountain biking”. This research
highlighted how insufficient suspension contributes to specific injuries. The
study was located via targeted Google searches, medical journals, and cycling
injury analyses.
6) Researched various types of bicycle suspensions, their
setups, and tools needed for adjusting damping levels. Used a mix of Google
searches, YouTube tutorial videos, and articles from cycling and engineering
websites to understand traditional and modern suspension systems.
7) Analysed components of suspension systems, such as
springs and dampers, and assessed outcomes of different combinations. This was
achieved by consulting engineering textbooks, online articles, and
informational videos from reliable sources like YouTube.
8) Contributed to writing the methodology section of the
report by detailing the research pathway and steps taken throughout the
project. Information was compiled from research logs, notes taken during
meetings, and collaboration with team members to create a cohesive narrative.
9) Contributed to writing the background section (Overview,
Problems and Dangers) of the report. Information was sourced from mountain
biking webpages and YouTube videos, as well as medical websites.
10) Drafted the executive summary for the entire report, providing a concise
overview of the key findings and conclusions.
11) Organized and formatted the report using the table of
contents feature in Word/Docs, ensuring it adhered to specifications for font
type, font size, line spacing, and overall presentation. Used the table of
contents feature in word/ docs to tidy up the entire report, making sure that
the report was neat and up to specification (font type, font size, line spacing
etc.).
12) Wrote the full letter of transmittal addressed to
Aventon’s CEO, Mr. Zhang Jianwei.
Thanks, Ryan, for the detailed description of some of your contributions. You mention that you did research, but you don't explain how.
